Coco for Coconut Crab!

Cracking a coconut...


Alright so I came across this guy and I thought nothing of it until I saw another picture,
this picture to be exact... 


No, this is NOT photo shopped! Scary huh? 

Sooo... did that get your attention like it got mine? I mean this thing is freaking HUGE! 
They’re native to Guam and other Pacific islands, thank God! I don't know about you but I am sure glad that the US doesn't have these things! So, in WWII, American soldiers stationed in the Pacific theater wrote home with tales about entire atolls being covered in the armor-plated giants. These crabs can crack a coconut in one swipe; but they’re generally too slow to be very dangerous to humans :)

Hmmm... I wonder if they taste as good as the crab we eat, because that is a whole lotta drab meat! Yum!

  1. oh my gosh that thing is scary!!!!!! if I saw one of those in front me I would start screaming! but other than that very interesting, good job Jasmine!
